Ill-considered heat of the moment reaction to the BBC suspending Jeremy Clarkson.

No-one knows what Jeremy Clarkson is supposed to have done (though it would be amazing if ‘fracas’ did not include at least a bit of pushing and shoving, maybe a punch or two) yet many, including people getting paid to write for once-esteemed national newspapers, think he should be sacked. Immediately.

That’s idiotic.

Many others, without knowing what he’s alleged to have done this time, sign a petition for his immediate reinstatement because their Sunday night TV viewing will be upset or because they are fans, think he’s funny and like the cut of his takes-no-prisoners-speaks-his-mind-while-smoking-and-standing-up-to-political-correctness-bigotry-cloak.

That’s idiotic.

I think Jeremy Clarkson should have been taken outside and shot for saying striking public sector workers should be taken outside and shot. And I don’t watch Top Gear.

  1. Hear hear. This is my first trackback, I think – so forgive me if I’m doing it wrong!
